Deputy Prime Minister
In May 2009, with the formation of the new Cabinet, HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan was appointed Deputy Prime Minister. The Federal Cabinet is the federation’s executive authority and, under the supreme control of HH the President and the Federal Supreme Council, it manages all internal and foreign affairs of the federation under its constitution and federal laws. The Cabinet comprises a president, two deputies and the ministers. The General Secretariat is managed by the secretary general of the cabinet.
Minister of Presidential Affairs
In November 2004, HH Sheikh Mansour was appointed as the Minister of Presidential Affairs, created following the amalgamation of The Office of HH the President and The Presidential Court to form the Ministry of Presidential Affairs. By virtue of this position, HH Sheikh Mansour acts as the chief advisor to HH the President. The mission of the Ministry includes provision of consultation to HH the President in all fields, and follow-up on implementation of decisions. The Ministry is in charge of implementation of all the initiatives of HH the President, and provides various services to UAE citizens, mainly housing and residential lands. The higher management of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs includes HE the Deputy Minister, HE the Secretary General, and a number of undersecretaries for various divisions.
Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Services
In 2006, His Highness was appointed Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Services, a ministerial entity that is effectively serves as an executive council for the UAE Cabinet. The Ministerial Council includes the ministers responsible for the service sectors in the federal government. The Ministerial Council for Services supervises the implementation of the government’s general policy and examines reports on the progress of relevant work in the ministries and government authorities. The Ministry of Presidential Affairs studies the appropriate solutions to improve the level of public services provided for UAE nationals, especially in relations to the fields of health care, education, housing, roads and transport, water and electricity, and communications. The council is composed of its chairman, his deputy, and its secretary general, as well as some ministers.
Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD)
Since the appointment of HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) in 2006, the department continues to experience qualitative shift in its tasks. The ongoing process of modernization shall develop the judiciary system at all levels, in line with the strategic vision of Abu Dhabi government. Pursuing its major objective of effective implementation of a world class Judicial System, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department set certain objectives to achieve within its strategic plan for the period 2008-2013. The Judicial Council is composed of the HE the Chairman of the Judicial Department, HE the Attorney General, and ten of the most senior counsellors of the Judicial Department who supervise various functions.
Chairman of the Emirates Investment Authority
In 2007, HH Sheikh Mansour was appointed Chairman of the Emirates Investment Authority (EIA), the only Sovereign Wealth Fund of the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates. The authority is responsible for the efficient investment of funds on behalf of the federal government, in order to make profitable investment returns.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority
From 2005, HH Sheikh Mansour has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA), which is an institution overseeing food safety. It takes the preventive measures necessary to protect the population from food-based risks and guarantees food safety, quality and suitability for human consumption. It also carries out relevant research and issues regulations, legislations and decisions pertaining to the different food categories sold for human consumption. The Authority, (ADFCA), won international accreditation in the field of agriculture and food safety.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development
Since 2005, His Highness has been Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD). The Fund was established on July 15, 1971, as a leading national entity to provide development aid to developing countries in the form of concessionary loans and administering grants on behalf of the Abu Dhabi government. The aim is to finance development projects in order to support efforts to achieve economic and social development in developing countries. The ADFD also makes investments in order to encourage the private sector in the recipient countries to play an essential role in accelerating the economic development process.
Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Company for Petroleum Investments (IPIC)
Since 2005, His Highness has been Chairman of the Board of Directors for Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC). In addition to the chairman, the Board of Directors of this company comprises a deputy chairman as well as a number of other members. Since its inception, this successful investment company has managed to foster a new trend for the investments of the oil-producing emirate of Abu Dhabi. The company invests in strategic overseas partnerships that, in turn, contribute to Abu Dhabi’s long-term economic growth. IPIC’s portfolio further comprises assorted investments across the globe, including long-term partnerships with highly successful joint ventures that generate exceptional portfolio growth and strong financial performance. As such, the company is keen to acquire board memberships in most of its portfolios and partner corporations.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Centre for Documentation and Research
Since 2000, His Highness Sheikh Mansour has chaired the National Centre for Documentation and Research (NCDR). The Centre is working to develop government archives, preserve and process archival collections and enhance their accessibility to interested stakeholders. The NCDR increases its public outreach by making its in-house facilities available for interaction with the wider community, thus contributing to raising public awareness about the nation's documentary heritage and enhancing national identity.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Centre of Meteorology & Seismology
From 2007, His Highness has been the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Centre of Meteorology & Seismology (NCMS). The centre is the competent authority dealing with meteorological and seismic activities as well as monitoring marine weather forecasts. It provides its services to the decision makers, as well as other public agencies, research centres and the media.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Khalifa Award for Education
In 2007, HH Sheikh Mansour was became the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Khalifa Award for Education. This is a world-class award promoting the ideals of the educational work in the UAE and the Arab world in general, by motivating and encouraging distinguished and innovative education professionals in different educational levels and fields.
Chairman of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation
From 2007, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed has been the Chairman of the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Charity Foundation (KBZF). The vision of the Foundation is to take "pioneering initiatives in the service of humanity". The strategy of the Foundation is focused on the provision of assistance to the neediest communities at the local, regional and global levels. The educational strategy of the Foundation includes supporting vocational educational projects in countries of the region, health needs related to malnutrition, child protection and care and the provision of safe water on a global level. Poor and needy communities are also supported by the provision of main infrastructure such as schools and hospitals, etc. In order to implement these strategies, the Foundation has entered into partnerships with global organizations affiliated with the United Nations and public welfare organisations. The various kinds of assistance delivered by the Foundation around the world have reached more than 35 countries since its inception until the present date.
Chairman of the Emirates Racing Authority
Since 2006, His Highness Sheikh Mansour has been the Chairman of the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA). It is an internationally recognised governing body for horse riding in the United Arab Emirates. The ERA registry office manages and processes the registration of horses, licensing of all trainers, jockeys, officials and stable personnel in the UAE.
Chairman of Al Jazira Sports Club
Since 2004, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan became the deputy Chairman of the Honorary Panel and Chairman of AL JAZIRA Sports Club. The club is working to promote a sports culture that transforms amateur players into professional players. As a reflection of HH Sheikh Mansour’s keenness to develop the skills of talented young Emiratis, Al Jazira Club established its Football Academy to ensure a smooth development of the talent of all its players from an early age at school, through the Academy and then to the First Team.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club since 1994. A professional practitioner of equestrian sports and possessed of a great passion for horse riding and breeding, HH Sheikh Mansour has been a role model in encouraging Emiratis to practice this much-loved sport that is deeply rooted in the history and heritage of this region.
Deputy Chairman of the Ministerial Financial and Economic Committee
In 2005, HH Sheikh Mansour was appointed Chairman of the Ministerial Financial and Economic Committee, which is responsible for reviewing and assessing the UAE government’s financial and economic policies, and ensuring their compatibility with the Government’s strategic plan.
Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Education Council
In 2005, HH Sheikh Mansour was appointed Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC). ADEC seeks to develop education and educational institutions in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and provide technical consultation in respect of developing educational policies and services in the emirate. The Council has two main objectives: the first is to adopt the appropriate plans and programmes that aim to improve education and support educational institutions. The second is to provide technical consultation concerning the development of educational policies, services and practices in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi within an integrated vision that seeks to deliver world-class educational services to its citizens and residents. As such, ADEC is supervising the development and organisation, and leading the implementation, of innovative initiatives in the various educational sectors, including public and private educational institutions. This process includes the main tiers of basic education as well as tertiary and higher education, in addition to technical, vocational and adult education.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD)
Since 2005, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD). This governmental agency was established to implement the relevant laws to protect and manage the environment, as well as adopting the regulatory actions for protecting a clean environment to support sustainable development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Member of the Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC)
HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Petroleum Council (SPC) since 2005. The SPC is a government agency that oversees the petroleum industry in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It is responsible for developing the core objectives and rules for the petroleum industry along with the fundamental requirements to achieve them. It also makes related decisions, following up on their implementation in order to achieve the desired goals in all branches of the petroleum industry. The SPC is chaired by HH the President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Member of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA)
Since 2006, Sheikh Mansour has been a board member of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), which was established in 1976 under a decree issued by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. ADIA’s function is to invest surplus government’s funds in different types of low-risk assets. This authority is categorised as one of the largest investment funds in the world, where the investment funds owned by ADIA became influential in the global market.
Member of the Board of Abu Dhabi Investment Council
Sheikh Mansour has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Investment Council since 2010, under a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler of Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Member of the Board of the ’Council of Border Affairs‘
HH Sheikh Mansour is Chairman of the Council of Border Affairs, a position he has held since 2009. The Council is the official body that is authorised to address border issues.
