On the occasion of Flag Day, congratulations were extended to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, by His Excellency Ahmed Al Hameeri, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs (MoPA). His Excellency also extended his congratulations to HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. MoPA’s Secretary General further extended his congratulations on the occasion to Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and the Rulers of the Emirates and HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
HE Ahmed Al Hameeri expressed his pride in raising the UAE flag high on the flagpole in front of MoPA, as the National Anthem of the UAE played. Flag Day coincides with the anniversary of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan assuming the presidency of the UAE. The occasion is highly significant as it coincides with the Year of Zayed, which celebrates the 100th year since the birth of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, glorifies his impact and heritage and solidifies the values that he instilled and worked hard to disseminate.
During the ceremony, His Excellency praised the wise leadership of HH the President and Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates, and the great achievements made in various fields and made the UAE among the developed countries. Then, in the presence of HE Hamad Abdul Rahman Al Madfa, Secretary-General of the Federal Supreme Council Affairs at MoPA, HE Mohammed Abdullah Al Junaibi, Chief of Presidential Protocol at MoPA, along with MoPA’s Undersecretaries and advisers and a number of employees, His Excellency went on to make a short speech.
“Flag Day is a national occasion in which we renew loyalty, belonging and love to our precious homeland and embody the strong relationship between the leadership and its loyal people,“ he stated, before continuing: “We remember the late founder Sheikh Zayed, along with his fellow founding fathers, and the noble values they established among every member of society. We promise the wise leadership that we will make every effort to keep the UAE flag flying high, and our nation strong, proud and generous to citizens and residents alike in the UAE.” His Excellency ended by saying that prays to Allah to imbue with pride and dignity this occasion so dear to the UAE leadership and people, and to perpetuate for them the blessings of security and safety.
